Description
Our 22" - 24" x 1" solid urethane smooth tread wheelchair tires are the same top-quality tires that Drive Medical uses as their factory-installed push wheel tires. If you can mount these tires on a 22" to 24" rim, this is a great way to save money.
Note: These tires are undersize by design; providing a difficult-to-removeable bond to the rim once installed. They will need to be heated enough to make them soft and pliable before stretching over the rim*. In addition to heating and softening, we strongly recommend using a tire tool such as the M40E Tire Installation Tool to mount these tires onto a wheelchair's rim. Because they must be heat treated before installation, these tires are non-returnable
*Useful hint: An old boat-builder's trick to mount rubber rubrails of similar material is to immerse the rubber in a vat, kettle, or drum of nearly boiling water for 15 to 30 minutes. This makes the rubber soft and pliable enough to stretch around the hull. As the rubber then cools it contracts and becomes perfectly form fitting.
