Description

The heavy duty adjustable training wheels for 14" to 20" bicycle wheels are a great accessory for your child's bike, and one that will help them develop their life-long riding skills. These training wheels are designed to mount on most single speed kids' bikes that use 14" to 20" wheels by kids weighing up to 66 pounds.

Because kids' bikes are often constructed a little differently than models meant for adults, we offer the training wheel in two options determined by the bike's chainstay tubes. The chainstays are the two frame pieces that hold the rear axle, and are usually the lowest parts of the bike's steel frame. As our training wheels mount around the two ends of the bike's axle and is braced to the chainstay, a good fit is vital.

Our option with the Standard Chainstay Shim will fit just fine on many of today's bikes made for young riders. The chainstay shim (the black inverted U-shape in the photo) fits onto the end of the chainstay brace to provide a firm and rigid fit for the adjustable wheel bracket. In general, a kid's bike will use a 5/8" or 3/4" diameter (more or less) chainstay tube and this standard size shim makes it a perfect fit.

The Oversize Chainstay Shim version is what you want if the bike's chainstay tube is oval-shaped or flattened and is 1" to 1-1/4" wide. Other than these necessary shims, the two training wheel options use the same wheels, brackets, and hardware. The instruction manual PDF (below) gives a visual illustration of how these training wheel assemblies are attached to the bicycle's frame.
