Description

This 24 volt 5.0 amp XLR battery charger is Universal Power Group (UPG) model 24BC5000T-4, which replaces the 24BC5000TF-1. It is for mobility scooters and power chairs with batteries of 17 Ah or larger and an off-board charging female XLR socket. It is also fully compatible as a replacement for the HP8204B charger.

It charges both AGM and gel batteries. Note: Set the selector switch to GEL or AGM to match your batteries. The instructions may say "suitable for lead acid batteries only." AGM and gel are both sealed lead acid batteries, so this charger works with either, although it is optimized for AGM.

It is a lightweight switch-mode, 3-stage charger (bulk, absorption and float). It shuts off automatically when charging is complete and then holds the batteries in float mode, so they can stay connected. It has short circuit, reverse polarity and low voltage protection, and three LEDs show power on, charging and charged. Charging time depends on how deeply the batteries are discharged.

Note: As a built-in safety feature, the charger will not operate if the battery has less than 18 volts. The charger has a full 1-year warranty covering defects in material and workmanship.

Item was shipped quickly. One of the downside of the charger is it won't charge the batteries if they are under a certain amount of voltage. So haven't been able to use yet
