This 24 Volt 5.0 Amp XLR Gel Cell battery charger from Universal Power Group (UPG) is an excellent and economical way to keep your Gel batteries charged.

Deep cycle Gel Cell batteries are usually longer lasting but are more sensitive to being overcharged. Using an AGM style charger on Gel Cell batteries is a sure fire way to guarantee their poor performance and premature failure. Our Gel Cell battery charger has an output range of 28.8 volts, making it safe to use with AGM as well.

In brief, while an AGM optimized charger should never be used with Gel batteries, a charger optimized for Gel batteries will work with either, although the charging rate will be slower. These differences in voltages are not absolutely required for the two battery types, but are the recommended charging voltages. Note: The selector switch must be set to GEL or AGM depending on the battery type to be charged.

The charger features an automatic shut off when the battery charging cycle is complete. The charging time varies greatly with the level of battery depletion. This charger is Underwriters Laboratories (UL) Listed for dry location use only.

Short Circuit Protection - Prevents damage caused when operating in a short circuit condition for an indefinite period of time. The charger is "self-recovering" when the fault condition is removed.

Reverse Polarity Protection - Prevents damage when positive and negative polarities are connected in reverse.

Fully Automatic Operation - Safely charges and maintains a full charge. the final stage of charging is the float mode and the battery may remain connected indefinitely. In this mode, the charger maintains fully charged condition.

Low Voltage Protection - When the battery voltage is below a preset value, the charger will not start charging.

GEL and AGM batteries are both forms of sealed "lead acid" batteries.
