Description
Description
A more powerful version of the Adventure Power 12 volt 2.0 amp output charger, this 4.0 amp battery trickle charger maintainer will charge and maintain sealed lead-acid batteries in scooters, ATVs, dirt bikes, motorcycles, personal watercraft (PWC), automobiles, and boats. Keep your ride ready to roll with this Adventure Power charger made by Universal Power Group (UPG).
Compare this affordable power sports battery maintainer to Battery Tender®, Battery Minder®, and Energizer brand chargers and save some cash while properly maintaining your battery.
This is a great scooter accessory part for use during cold winter months where you may not be riding on a daily or even weekly basis.
This 4.0A output charger comes with a quick disconnect connector for ease of charging your battery that may be difficult to access. Secure the wiring harness with ring connectors to your battery terminals, route the wiring harness just outside the battery compartment, and you can quick connect this trickle charger to keep your scooter, ATV, dirt bike, or go kart battery charged and ready to roll.
LED Indicators:
Red: Constant Current Charge (Fast Charge)
Orange: Constant Voltage Charge
Green: Battery Fully Chaged (Float/Maintaining Stage)
Three Stage Charge Cycle
An integrated circuit monitors and controls both the output voltage and current of the charger through three separate charge states:
1. A high current, fast charge state: battery charges at 4,000 mA fast current rate until battery voltage reaches 14.6 volts.
2. A topping charge state: battery charges at 14.6 volts constant voltage and current begins to taper until current is less than 1000 mA.
3. A precision float charge state: the charger changes to the float state and holds the battery voltage at 13.6 volts continuous. This allows the charger to remain connected to the batteries during periods of non-use, keeping the batteries in a state of full charge.
4. Return to bulk charge: should the battery voltage drop to 13 volts, the charger will return to the bulk charge state.
Charging a Battery
Follow these steps to charge a battery:
1. Select the appropriate battery connector and connect it to the charger output connector.
2. Connect the DC battery connector to the battery terminal (Red to "+", Black to "-").
3. Plug the charger power cord into the charger.
4. Plug the power cord into wall outlet. If no LED is on, then check the AC input connection.
5. The LED light should be Red, indicating that the charger is charging the battery.
6. When battery is fully charged, the LED will be Green. Unplug the charger from the wall, then disconnect from the battery.
7. When charging a large battery, it may take a while for the green LED light to show or turn on.
Safety Features
1. Short-Circuit Protection - protects the charger from short-circuit damage.
2. Over Current Protection - protects the charger from over-current demand.
3. Over Voltage Protection - protects the batteries from damage.
4. Battery Polarity Reversal - protects the charger and batteries against incorrectly installed batteries.
5. Low Battery Voltage - When the battery is under 8V, the charger will not operate.
