Description
Description
Restore clean, responsive controls to your power chair with this replacement keypad overlay for 4-key newVSI joystick controllers. The overlay is the adhesive membrane on the face of the joystick that covers its four buttons. Once it cracks, peels or wears through, moisture and dirt can reach the joystick contacts underneath, so replacing a damaged overlay early helps protect the controller.
This overlay fits 4-key newVSI joysticks on the Pride Jazzy Passport folding power chair, the Merits Regal, Travel-Ease Regal and EZ-GO (old version), and the Shoprider Jimmie and XtraLite Jiffy. Installation needs no tools, just an alcohol prep pad and a few minutes of drying time.
Installation Instructions:
- Make sure the power chair is turned off.
- Pull the gray collar back and disconnect the joystick cable from the joystick.
- Peel up and remove the old, damaged keypad from the joystick face plate.
- Inspect the joystick contacts, face plate and housing for corrosion or damage.
- Use an alcohol prep pad to remove any adhesive from the face plate, including around the rim and inside the lighting and contact cutouts.
- Set the joystick aside for ten minutes so all the alcohol evaporates.
- Check again for adhesive lumps or residue, and repeat steps 5 and 6 if needed.
- Remove the backing from the new keypad.
- Align the bottom edge of the keypad with the bottom edge of the face plate. The overlay is not repositionable, so confirm the alignment before pressing it down.
- Working from the bottom up, press the keypad firmly into the face plate until it is fully seated, with no air pockets or ripples around the edge.
- Reconnect the joystick cable.
- Turn on the power chair and test all joystick functions. If the joystick still does not work properly, the joystick itself may be faulty.
