Description
This 24 volt 5.0 amp battery charger from Universal Power Group (UPG) has an XLR plug for mobility scooters and power chairs with an off-board charging socket. It is suited to batteries of 17 Ah or larger, and it is a compatible replacement for the HP8204B charger.
A selector switch lets you charge either AGM or gel batteries. Set it to GEL or AGM to match your batteries before charging. The instructions may say "suitable for lead acid batteries only"; AGM and gel are both sealed lead acid batteries, so this charger works with both, though it is optimized for AGM.
The charger uses a 3-stage process (bulk, absorption, float) and shuts off automatically when charging is complete, so the batteries can stay connected. It has short circuit, reverse polarity and low voltage protection, and three LEDs show power on, charging and charged. Charging time varies with how drained the batteries are.
Note: As a safety feature, the charger will not operate if the batteries have less than 18 volts. The charger is covered by a 1-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship.

I have 2 different scooters and I had ordered one charger for one scooter and when I ordered the second charger for the other scooter they are the same and both works great and I have one scooter up for sale now
UPG charger is very powerful for such a small charger. It charges very fast and is easy to carry in my backpack. I also like that it has lights letting me know if my battery needs to be charged or is already charged. The price is practically a steal and I received it in about a week after purchase. I will purchase this charger again from Monster Auto Parts in the future.
